Banks progress reviewed in DLRC meet

DODA: To review the progress of banks under Annual Credit Plan 2014-15 in District Doda for the quarter ending June 2014, a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC), District Consultative Committee (DCC) and Local Advisory Committee for RSETI was on Friday held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Doda Shyam Vinod Meena .
While reviewing the performance of banks in the meet, DDC stressed on increase in awareness camps especially in remote and far flung areas of the District to ensure that the benefits of Government sponsored schemes percolate down to doorsteps of rural, backward and deserving unemployed youth which will prove a robust step in achieving financial literacy and financial inclusion.
He emphasised on the banks to prepare a road map for the implementation of Jan Dhan Yojana in the district, besides he impressed upon the bankers to adopt people friendly approach and be liberal in funding especially to focussed potential areas like Horticulture, Agriculture, Floriculture, Dairy and other allied farm sectors in the district so that progressive farmers, orchardists, artisans, self help groups, weaker sections, women etc are looped in the process of financial inclusion which in turn will increase the economic viability of the banks in the region and will also help in social as well as economical development of the people. He also directed J&K Bank authorities to take necessary steps for the shifting of J&K Bank Branch Dessa to its original location in Dessa area , which is currently operational from Doda town.
Expressing concern on the low CD ratio of 25 per cent as on 30th June 2014 in the district, he enjoined upon all the bankers to introspect their respective bank performances and report back with the steps taken to increase the CD ratio. He also advised the bankers to route self help groups (SHGs), orchardists, farmers etc in increasing the CD Ratio to the optimum level.
DDC directed Director Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) Doda to furnish a road map in coordination with Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic and Assistant Regional Transport Officer Doda for conducting a refresher course for Registered Commercial Vehicle Drivers in the district to enhance their driving skills so that the unfortunate road mishaps in the district could be minimised. He further informed the house that a committee to select the drivers and supervise their refresher course will be soon constituted .
DDC viewed the large scale rejection of Kissan Credit Cards (KCCs) by various banks seriously and strived on the 100 per cent coverage of eligible farmers and issuance of KCC to them. He directed the bankers to create farmer friendly atmosphere in the banks and ensure that rejection of KCC forms if any should be cleared from concerned sponsoring agency so that the intending farmers don’t get de-motivated by unfriendly behaviour of the banks. Besides the performance of various Government Sponsored Schemes viz NRLM (SGSY) , NULM, JKSES, SC/ST/OBC schemes, PMEGP (DIC,KVIB,KVIC), Handloom and Handicraft were also reviewed in the meeting and all the banks were enjoined upon to sanction the sponsored cases within the shortest possible time.
DDC also underlined the need of social audit in sanctioning and implementation of various schemes including NRLM of micro-financing to the women self help groups being funded by NABARD and other agencies.
Earlier, LDM SBI Doda, I.B Sharma apprised the house that the Deposits and Advances of all commercial banks as on 30th June 2014 stood at Rs. 1,153 Crores and Rs 288 Crores respectively, thus achieving a CD ratio of 25 per cent.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Doda S.C Dogra, Chief Planning Officer Doda Y.S Katoch, Lead District Manager SBI Doda I.B Sharma among other Bankers and District Officers attended the meeting.
