ARMY’S OPERATION MEGH RAHAT ENTERS THIRTEENTH DAY
Operation Megh Rahat continues with same intensity as more and more resources and aid material is pumped into the valley. In their relentless operation the Army alone has rescued more than 1.2 Lakh people and the number is increasing as more and more people are being taken to safer places and being provided shelter, food and medical facility. The number is more than 2 Lakh considering efforts by IAF, NDRF and other paramilitary forces.
Army medical teams working day and right have provided succour to more than 55 thousand people so far. 1.8 Tones of IV fluid, large amount of medicines and 3 tonnes of hospital items have been lifted from Jammu to the valley, PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
More than 95000 people were fed yesterday at various camps established by the Army. 5.5 Tones of cooked food was lifted from Jammu to transit for migrating workers as Jammu- Kashmir highway continues to be blocked. Link Batote – Anantnag via Sinthan Pass has been opened and Civil truck have started plying on the road. All out efforts are on by BRO and Engineers to open Jammu- Kashmir Road link. New alignment is being cut near Ramsu as the road was completely washed away in that area. Water has been reducing in the valley however there have been some fresh rain today.
