Army organises veterinary camp in Rajouri

RAJOURI: The army has been at the forefront of health and education initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. As part of this initiative a veterinary camp was organised at Village Gagrote of Rajouri District. The camp was conducted under the flagship Sadbhavana, by Rashtriya Rifles at Kalal under the aegis of Reasi based Counter Insurgency Force Headquarters. The response from the local populace was unprecedented owing to people from adjacent villages also attending the camp.

A team of Veterinary Doctors and Veterinary Assistants from the Army Veterinary Corps and Civil Veterinary Doctors from Animal Husbandry Department, Nowshera attended to the animals arriving in the camp. A total 3051 animals to include sheep, goats, cows, calves, buffalos, dogs, ponies, mules and horses were treated during the veterinary camp. Free veterinary medicines were also distributed as part of the veterinary health initiative.

Prominent members of Civil Administration along with a number of Sarpanchs were also present during the camp. Speaking on the occasion Suram Singh, Sarpanch of the village Gagrote, on behalf of the locals expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Army for its initiative in veterinary care for the remote villages and reaching out to the population most in need but deprived of basic requirements. He appreciated the efforts of the Army towards the livestock.
