MENDHAR: The army organised an awareness drives on ‘Ill Effects of Drugs, Smoking and Drinking on Health’ at Youth Centre Mendhar and Palma of Poonch and Rajouri District on Friday. The aim of the event was to impart awareness about the ill effects of drugs on person, his family and society. The drive primarily was focused on the youth and to educate them about the physical, psychological and social damages caused by these bad habits.
At the outset the issue of rampant drug abuse in the area was also highlighted wherein the youth were explained about how the drug traffickers were playing with the lives of youth. The drive was followed by an interactive Question and Answer Session where the locals participated enthusiastically and raised a number of queries which reflected their concern towards this menace.
The local populace applauded the efforts of the army in organising such activities which generated awareness and a feeling of goodwill amongst the civil population, especially the youth.
