Army felicitates braveheart ‘Jagruk Hindustani’

AKHNOOR: A felicitation event was organised by the army at Village Pindi to honour the valour, sacrifice and contribution of the local population during the anti terrorist operation on 27th and 28th November 2014. The operation resulted in eliminating four hard core terrorists and recovery of huge amount of arms, ammunition and explosives and other indiscriminating material.
The operation was successful due to wholehearted and daring cooperation from the villagers of Pindi, Kathar, Ala, Nandpur and Khour. Brave heart ‘Shri Jagruk Hindustani’ of village Pindi displayed courage, initiative and sense of duty by informing about the suspected terrorists in army uniform and alerted the army post nearby. This assisted in eliminating all four terrorists.
‘Shri Jagruk Hindustani’ was felicitated by Lieutenant General K.J Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command with the Western Command Army Commander’s Commendation Card in presence of General Officer Commanding Rising Corps Star and General Officer Commanding Tiger Division. During this the family members of the martyred civilians were also present. Army Commander during his address and interaction thanked the villagers for standing shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army. He further conveyed that a Sadbhavana Project for the benefit of the five villages would be implemented soon.
In a show of solidarity and partnership with the people of the border belt, army personnel had attended the funeral of the five civilians who were killed by the terrorists on 27th November 2014.
