LADAKH: The Army’s Chushul Brigade under the aegis of Trishul Division organised Late Lady Cadet Stanzin Odzes Memorial Inter Village Ice Hockey Tournament at Tangtse.
“This is a popular sport of Ladakh during winters and also captures the essence of Ladakh, especially when the water bodies freeze in the extreme cold, the local youth immerse their heart and soul into the Ice Hockey Rink,” Defence Spokesperson S.D Goswami said.
The tournament is being conducted with active involvement of the Lalok Sports Association. The tournament saw the participation of 12 Ice Hockey Teams of the local villages/schools. The colourful extravaganza also witnessed a cultural programme by the locals presenting the traditional Ladakhi dances and ‘Bhangra’ by the army troops.
The tournament will culminate on 17th December, 2014 with the conduct of final match and prize distribution ceremony, the spokesperson informed.
