JAMMU: “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it but it flies with the last breath of each soldier who dies protecting it”. With this soul-stirring opening statement Dhruvika of Grade VIIA along with her classmates conducted the morning Assembly to celebrate Indian Armed Forces Flag Day at JK Public School Kunjwani, Jammu.
Fanning the ambers further, another student Suchi presented the thought of the day. She stated, “War is not just the shower of bullets and bombs from both sides; it is also the shower of blood and bones on both sides”.
Throwing more light on the topic Amna said, “This day must be celebrated with high spirits and tremendous gratitude in our hearts. This day is celebrated to esteem the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought and continued to fight on our borders to shield our country’s honour. December 7 is glorified as Armed Forces Flag Day”.
“This day is devoted to the soldiers who defended our nation. Soldiers are the custodian of the nation. They scarified various things in their lives to execute their duties. The aim of this day is also to gather funds from people for the enhancement of the Armed Forces staff”, added Mehransh.
Another student Omera provided guidance to the students in planning a career in the Indian Armed Forces based on their individual preferences and interests, like, Indian Army, Indian Air force & Indian Navy. The various entry schemes for recruitment, namely, after +2 level entry through National Defence Academy (NDA) Kadakvasla & after graduation, entry through Combined Defence Services (CDS) were explained in detail.
She highlighted the “importance of NDA Khadakwasla as one of the most renowned Defence Training Institutes across the globe. After a successful completion of 3 year training at NDA Khadakwasla, cadets move to their next destination at one of the following three academies, namely, Indian Military Academy Dehradun, Uttarakhand; Indian Air Force Academy, Dindigul Hyderabad, Telangana; & Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kannur district, Kerala”.
Mohd. Ilyas presented a poignant poem in Urdu on the occasion, which read like:
“Apne watan se hamne hardam yaari ki
Haq ke liye jung-e-wafaa jaari ki.
Koi bataa de kab humne gaddari ki,
Dushman par humlon ki jab taiyari ki”.
“Hai zurm agar watan ki mitti se mohabbat,
Toh ye zurm sadaa mere hisaab mein rahega!
Ghaayal hote hain, marte hain, par rukte nahin;
Aye mere watan! Tere laal kabhi bikte nahi”.
Principal JK Public School, Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Armed forces for making supreme sacrifices and leaving no stone unturned in safeguarding the honour of our Motherland. He appreciated the bravehearts from our valiant Armed forces for being so loving, caring & dedicated towards the nation.
