JAMMU: Aradhana, a non-profit organization run by the volunteers belonging to different college domains, enrolled the underprivileged children including rag pickers and Burma refugees in a certified school in Jammu to drift their future from darkness to light.
This project commenced in August 2015 where the members and volunteers of Aradhana imparted elementary education through various courses in all the subjects including English, Hindi and Math until the induction of children in school.
About 10 children got enrolled in KG, 19 children were inducted in first class and six students later enrolled belong to the slum areas of Maratha Mohalla, Channi, Bhagwati Nagar and they got admission after segregating them proportionally to their abilities.
Aradhana also took the responsibility of providing them with proper school uniforms. Unidentified rag pickers now walk to school with an identity of their own and this transformation is the result of the hard work of both the kids and the members of Aradhana.
