Apne Bache and Gumrah Nawjan remain favourite Taranas for mainstreamists and separatists in Kashmir, who are not ashamed of offering olive branches to terrorists and stone-pelters despite mayhem unleashed by them in Jammu and Kashmir during the past twenty seven years.
Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone were killed by radicalised terrorists but still the entire lot of gun-toting youth remains ‘Apne Bache and Shaheed’ for Mirwaiz Umar and Bilal Lone.
The love for ‘Gumrah Nawjawan’ and ‘Apne Bache’ remains unflinching for National Conference, Congress and PDP despite losing their legislators and ministers like Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Wali Mohammed Itoo, Dr Ghulam Nabi Lone, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Abdul Aziz Mir at the hands of terrorists. The ‘Apne Bache’ syndrome keeps hovering over the mainstreamists despite kidnapping of the daughters of two former Union Ministers.
How long shall these mainstreamists and separatists remain in denial mode? When shall they call spade a spade? The irony of Kashmir remains that all the India bashers-terrorists and stone pelters, remain ‘Gumrah Nawjawan’ and ‘Apne Bache’ for them despite havoc and devastation caused across the State.
They raped, killed, maimed, plundered but still they were Apne Bache.
This day in 1990 they hounded out peace loving miniscule minority from their homes and hearths to cleanse Kashmir from infidels…they were Gumrah Nawjan.
They gunned down three innocent Air Force personnel in the outskirts of Srinagar to send a message to Indian security forces that Pak trained marauders had arrived back in Kashmir…they were Apne Bache.
They killed scores of Kashmiri Pandits on the streets of Srinagar to create scare and to test their shooting practice attained in PoK training camps…they were Gumrah Nawjwan.
On February 13, 1990, they killed Doordarshan Director Lassa Koul in Srinagar…they were Apne Bache.
They abducted H.l. Khera, General Manager HMT, and Mushir-ul-Haq, Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University in Srinagar on April 6,1990 and killed them four days later… they were Gumrah Nawjwan.
On June 28, 1991 they kidnapped: K. Doraiswamy, a senior executive with the Indian Oil Corporation and released him subsequently, on August 20, in exchange for the release of four terrorists…they were Apne Bache.
They selectively massacred 15 Hindu passengers in Kishtwar on August 14, 1993…they were Gumrah Nawjawan
They martyred Lt. Gen. E.W Fernandes and four other senior officers a bomb explosion at the Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar on March 24, 1994 and they remain Apne Bache for their sympathisers.
On July 20, 1996, 17 persons were killed and 100 injured in a scooter bomb explosion at a marketplace in Jammu. Harkat-ul-Ansar claimed responsibility for the bombing but still they were Apne Bache.
They kidnapped and killed seven Kashmiri Pandits in Sangrampora on 21 March 1997…the brutes were Gumrah Nawjawan.
23 Kashmiri Pandits were murdered in cold blood at Wandhama on 25 January 1998 and the killers were Apne Bache.
In a selective mayhem, 18 members of a Hindu family were shot dead in Pranakote village of Udhampur district on April 17, 1998, followed by assassination of 20 wedding guests at Champnari mountains of Doda in June 1998…obviously the killers were Gumrah Nawjawan.
15 persons including eight women were butchered in a terrorist attack in Doda district on July 19,1999 and the assassins were Apne Bache.
They gunned down 12 police personnel in Police Headquarters, Srinagar on December 24, 1999 as a committed Fidayeen of Lashker Fidayeen but still they remain Apne Bache.
In a most gruesome act, 34 Sikhs were segregated from the residents in Chattisingpora, Kashmir on 20 March 2000 and killed selectively…the killers were own Gumrah Nawjawan.
Keeping on their savagery to radicalize Kashmir, 48 pilgrims were killed in series of blasts at the base camp of Shri Amarnathji Yatra at Pahalgam on August 1, 2000…the zealots were Apne Bache.
On January 20, 2002 they massacred 11 civilians, including eight children and a woman, and injured three others at Behra in Poonch district…the killers were Gumrah Nawjawan..
Three devotees and three security guards were assassinated in a terror attack on Raghunath Temple in Jammu on March 30, 2002 and the perpetrators were Gumrah Nawjawan.
On January 20, 2002 they massacred 11 civilians, including eight children and a woman, and injured three others at Behra in Poonch district…the killers were Apne Bache..
25 persons, including 12 women and a child, were killed and 35 others injured in a terrorist massacre at Qasim Nagar, Jammu on July 13, 2002…who were the killers? Gumrah Nawjawan.
Five civilians, including two couples, and injure another in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district on September 9, 2002 and the inhuman lunatics who did all this were Apne Bache.
On November 23, 2002: 19 persons, including nine SF personnel, three women and two children, were killed in an IED blast at Lower Munda on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway by Gumrah Nawjawans.
Four women and two children were beheaded at village Chowkian in the Kot Dhara area of Rajouri district on May 19, 2003…the inhuman vultures were Apne Bache:
On July 21, 2003: At least seven persons, including a child, were killed and 30 others injured in two powerful explosions triggered by unidentified terrorists at Banganga, two kilometers from Katra, on way to the Vaishno Devi shrine… the assassins were none other than Gumrah Nawjawan.
A day ahead of the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s visit to Pakistan to attend SAARC summit, four security force personnel and six civilians were killed on Jammu Railway Station on January 2, 2004…the killers were nonetheless Apne Bache.
These being just a few gruesome incidents carried out by committed terrorists, when shall the mainstreamists and separatists call them what they are-instead of Gumrah Nawjawan and Apne Bache!
