Annual Day of St Joseph’s High School: Rana lauds private sector for spread of education

NAGROTA: Provincial President National Conference and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana on Saturday said sky is the limit for young students to excel in the fields of academics and extra-curricular activities, adding that this can be achieved by enhanced interpersonal relationship between teachers, students and parents.
“Such a crucial teacher-parent synergy is more required at the basic schooling level, which is an important component of learning process”, Rana said at the Annual Day Function of St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Dhoke Waziran in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
Rana urged parents to have frequent interaction with teachers so as to monitor the development of their children on regular basis.
He hoped the management will maintain best academic standards and shape the destiny of children as per needs of the fast changing world where competition has assumed central stage in every sphere of activity.
He exhorted the management to take extra care of students coming from the lower strata of society, as part of their social responsibility.
The Provincial President lauded the role of private schools in the spread of education and exuded confidence that their efforts would help achieve higher level of literacy in the rural areas of the State.
Complimenting students, especially those who participated in various activities, Rana said that Annual Day Function is a special occasion for parents and their wards.
He advised students to concentrate on sports alongside academics as it is necessary for sharpening their capabilities.
He exhorted parents to help their wards set goals for them, as per their aptitude, and ensure that they pursue it with a sense of commitment. He also stressed on the need for inculcating moral values among students, keeping in view the glorious traditions. “This is necessary for satiating mental and spiritual thirst, especially in view of tremendous strain of this materialistic age”, he maintained.
Sr. Usha Thomas, Principal of the School said this institution was established in 2003 to impart value based education to the children of the town and nearby villages.
Besides students, faculty members, parents, prominent citizens, Rev. Ivan Pereira: Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar, President of Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society was the Guest of Honour at the Annual Day Function.
Besides, Rev. Fr. Jose Vadakkal: Vicar General, Vice President of Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society, Rev. Fr. Varkey, Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar, Rev. Fr. Antony Peppin, Chairman, Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Board, Sr. Jacinta, Vice Principal of the School and Raman Wazir, former Sarpanch were present on the occasion.
