Wachar said that YDA is aiming at educating youngsters about tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Ladakh so that Ladakhi students while living outside Ladakh are culturally rooted to their ancestral knowledge and wisdom which are being admired worldwide.
He added it has been a desire of Skabgon Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche to preserve Ladakhi culture amongst youngsters studying outside Ladakh.
Wachar informed that an album by young talented singers will be launched at the workshop and funds generated through the album will be contributed to students associations as financial assistance to carry out their activities.
“We will do talent hunts in future amongst youngsters and we are already in touch with ZEE for Saregama to provide platforms to talented youngsters hailing from Ladakh,” he disclosed.
Participants will be taught the proper traditional Ladakhi way of Losar (Ladakhi New Year) celebrations so that Ladakhi rich culture can be showcased by students to outsiders while celebrating Losar in metropolitan cities, Wachar said. It was also informed that many students studying outside Ladakh had approached YDA for conducting such seminars and workshops.
