Workshop on Phonetics & Communication Skills held at JKPS Kunjwani

JAMMU: JK Public School Kunjwani not only focuses on the development of students but also focuses on the teachers’ development with reference to which a workshop on “Phonetics & Communication Skills’ was organized.
Roopinder Kour, Vice Principal JK Public School Kunjwani, welcomed the resource person Harish Raina who is an International trainer. He has a vast experience and has many reputed articles to his credit. He has been to many countries & states of India as a language expert.
It was an interactive session with the whole faculty on creative and innovative strategies for teaching phonetics. He apprised the faculty members that there are myriad dialectal forms of languages, all influenced by place, culture and society as well as our individual thinking.
Through fun filled activities, he involved everyone present over there and suggested ways of making classroom teaching more interactive. The real life examples shared by the trainer were easily connected by one and all, thus to convey the listeners the actual purpose of training for one’s personal as well as professional development.
He highlighted the use of Phonetic structures. He also stressed upon the importance of communication skills. He summed up by saying that the non-verbal communication always has an upper-hand, so teachers should always try to use it to the optimum.
Rajesh Rathore, Principal JKPS Kunjwani actively participated in this workshop by sharing his own personal views on the enhancement of vocabulary and use of phonetics in day to day life.
He inspired teachers to enrich their arsenal of language with the requisite weapons, namely, sound vocabulary, phrasal verbs, idiomatic phrases, synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, proverbs & maxims, extensive reading etc.
The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Inderjeet Kour, School Coordinator. She lauded the resource person Raina for enriching the audience with his pearls of wisdom. She also appreciated teachers for being very attentive, involved & vocal throughout the session.
