VIKSIT BHARAT

The launch of ‘Viksit Bharat’ is an important milestone. The prospect of bringing India into the category of developed nation by the year 2047, the 100th year of India’s independence, is indeed captivating. Given the rapid progress of the country, it seems possible to realize this ambitious goal. Under ‘Viksit Bharat’, great emphasis has been laid on economic development. The project aims to make India a global leader in innovation and technology, a model for human development and social well-being, and a champion or enthusiastic advocate of environmental sustainability. This includes expanding access and affordability of financial services and social welfare schemes to the poor and marginalized groups. This can improve their income, savings and consumption as well as their health, education and empowerment. This includes strengthening governance institutions and processes, such as the rule of law, accountability, transparency and participation. This can improve the delivery of public goods and services, reduce corruption and increase trust and confidence.
This includes adopting and promoting green technologies and practices such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate resilience. This can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate environmental damage and create new opportunities for growth and development.
