RAMNAGAR: Udhampur Club shall be playing against equally good City Club in the final of the District Udhampur Volleyball Championship underway at Indoor Complex, here tomorrow.
The championship is being organised by Udhampur Volleyball Association under the aegis of VAJK and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
In the semifinals of this three-day meet, Udhampur Club defeated Thial Club 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-14) while City Club trounced Ramnagar Club 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-19). Preliminary Round: City Club beat Dhanori Club 2-0; Basantgarh beat Sudhmahadev Club 2-0; Udhampur Club beat Tikri Club 2-0 and Ramnagar Club beat Basantgarh.
On the second day of the championship, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK), Kuldeep Magotra was the Chief Guest and whereas Mohd Tariq, Joint Secretary of the Association was Guest of Honour.
They interacted with the teams and witnessed the semifinals.
The Chief Guest, speaking on the occasion, exhorted the participants to show their skills of the games and contribute their energies for channelising towards national reconstruction inculcating thereof the spirits of national unity and communal harmony among themselves.
Lauding the efforts of office bearers of Udhampur District Volleyball Association, he extended his full corporation on behalf of the Volleyball Association of J&K for conduct of more such events in future too in Udhampur District.
Sunil Sharma and prominent sports personalities were present on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Kuldeep Kumar, Amit Sharma, Suresh Paul, Rakesh Singh, Surinder Gupta and Vinod Sharma. The proceedings of the function were conducted by Amit Sharma.
