Udhampur Club wins boys’ title, Ramnagar Club lifts girls’ trophy

RAMNAGAR: Udhampur Volleyball Club and Ramnagar Volleyball Club lifted respective boys and girls titles of the three-day District Udhampur Volleyball Championship organised by the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur under the auspicious of J&K Volleyball Association and J&K Sports Council, which concluded at Indoor Sports Complex Ramnagar, here on Monday with great pomp and show.
In boys final, Udhampur Volleyball Club defeated City Volleyball Club by 3-0 (25-21,25-21,25-21) while Ramnagar Volleyball Club defeated Degree College Ramnagar by 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) in girls final.
Joginder Singh SSP Udhampur was the Chief Guest of the occasion and Vishal Manhas SDPO Ramnagar was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the District Association for organising prestigious tournament in the rural area like Ramnagar for the benefit of budding volleyball players of the area. He also said that sports can bring down all the evils of the society and can channelize the energy of the youth in positive and constructive way.
Kuldeep Magotra CEO J&K Volleyball Association congratulated the winning team and also encouraged all the participants.
The Chief Guest in presence of other dignitaries distributed prizes and trophies to winner and runner-up teams besides individual prizes among best performers.
Prominent among the present were Mohd Tariq Joint Secretary Volleyball Association of J&K, Pritam Kotwal Chief Patron of District Volleyball Association and Deputy Director YSSO (Retired), Sunil Sharma Veteran Volleyball Player, Dr Anil Sharma, Upkar Singh Veteran Volleyball Player, Kuldeep Kumar Volleyball Player and large number of sports lovers and locals were present. Ashok Padha President Volleyball Association of Udhampur formally welcomed the Chief Guest and all present over there. Amit Chander Singh Hony. Sec. District Association extended the votes of thanks. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students of Govt Model Higher Secondary Ramnagar.
Amit Sharma Spell bound the audiences and performed all the proceedings of the stage.
Matches were officiated by Kuldeeep Sharma, Sureshpaul, Rakesh Singh Rahi, Surinder Singh, Vinod Sharma, Manik Nargotra, Rakesh Kumar, Ankit and Satyam.
