RAMBAN: The police arrested a drug peddler on Monday and recovered 16.1 Kg poppy straw from his possession.
As per details, acting on specific information received from reliable sources, a party of Police Station Batote during Naka checking, intercepted a truck bearing registration no. JK01-M 5144. During search, 16.1 Kg poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The accused driver, identified as Mangat Ram, son of Hadyat Ram, resident of Raja Sansi, Tehsil Ajnala, District Amritsar, was arrested on the spot. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 75/2020 under Sections 8/15 of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote. Investigation of the case is going on. The arrest as well as recovery has been made by Insp Ranjit Rao, SHO Police Station Batote on directions of Rajinder Singh Chib, DySP Hqrs Ramban and under close supervision of Ranji Sharma, Addl SP Ramban and Haseeb Ur Rehman, SSP Ramban.
