MENDHAR : Eleven passengers including an infant of 8 months and six women were injured when the Tata sumo they were travelling in, rolled down from the road in Tehsil Mendhar on Thursday.
Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration No JK02H-1415 which was on its way from village Salva to Mendhar town rolled down from the road while negotiating a curve near village Bhera and fell into a deep gorge. Eleven passengers including four men, six women and an infant were injured. Locals of the village came to the rescue of the injured and shifted them to Sub District Hospital Mendhar.
The injured have been identified as Rehmat Bi wife of Rasheed, Asmat Bi wife of Mohd Taj Omar, Mohd Imtiaz son of Mohd Taj Omar, Zahida Kouser wife of Altaf Hussain, Parveen Akhtar wife of Munir Hussain, Gulshan wife of Mohd Razak, Mohd Razak son of Feroze Mohd, Shahin Akhtar daughter of Latief, Tabassam Lateef son of Mohd Latief and Mukhtar Ahmed son of Rashid all residents of Salwa, Tehsil Mendhar.
SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary reached the Sub District Hospital and enquired about the injured. According to BMO Dr Parveiz Ahmed Khan all the injured are out of danger.
Driver of the Sumo Javed Ahmed managed to flee and is absconding. The police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to arrest the driver.
