Punjab’s Gani wins title bout in Jhajjar Kotli Dangal

JAMMU: Wrestler Chouta Gani of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab lifted the 95th Jhajjarkotli Kesari Dangal title defeating Sandeep, again from Punjab, at Jhajjarkptli in district Jammu.
Winner of title bout, Chouta Gani awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 71,000 while Sandeep given away Rs. 50,000 as cash prize for being runners-up.
In the second main bout won by J&K wrester, Benia Meen (J&K Police), who outplayed Nassinder of Haryana to fetch the handsome cash prize of Rs 60,000. Runners-up, Nassinder got Rs. 40,000.
Another local wrester, Nissar (J&K Police) of Doda won the third main bout beating Sahil of Punjab. The fourth bout went to Rashid of Domana Akhara in Jammu after he downed Nadeem of Doda. In fifth main bout, Muneeer of Nagrota in Jammu defeated Manjit of Delhi. Dangal was organized by Jhajjarkotli Kesari Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association (JKISWA) under the overall supervision of Durga Dass Thappa and Om Parkash Dubey.
In total, 37 bouts decided in this Dangal with organisers spending around Rs 5 lakh on the day-long event. Kishan Morcha BJP J&K U.T Prabhari and senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest while Shiv Kumar Sharma, president JKISWA and former Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council (JKSC) presided over the function. Naresh Kumar (Papu Lakri), Shamsher Singh Baloria and Kuldeep Kumar Sharma (Sarpanch) were the guests of honour.
Members of Dangal Committee who helped for smooth conduct of historic, famous and Vishal Dangal included Durga Dass Thappa (president), Om Parkash Dubey, Bishan Dass Sharma, Nazir Mohd., Deepak Khajuria, Virender Khajuria (Bablu), Ajay Kumar, Vijay Kumar Dubey, Tarsem Singh, Ajeet Kumar Thappa, Rinku Baru, Rakesh Singh, Numberdar, Sanjay Dubey, Sunil Advocate, Shansher Singh Baloria, Mustaq Mohd., Mohd. Sain and party, Kuldeep Kumar, Satish Kumar, Sanjay Singh, Anil Kumar Thappa, Kanchan Singh, Sanjau Kumar Baru (Goga), Satish Kumar Dubey, Mohan Lal and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
