32nd Jammu District Volleyball Championship concludes

JAMMU: Pinto Volleyball Club Jammu and Trikuta Volleyball Club have won respective boys and girls trophies of the 32nd Jammu District Volleyball Championship organised by Jammu District Volleyball Association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at university campus ground, here on Thursday. The championship was sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
In boys final match, Pinto Volleyball Club Jammu outplayed Volleyball Club Allah by 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-23, 25-19) while Trikuta Volleyball Club Jammu defeated Youth for Nation Volleyball Club by straight 3-0 (29-27, 25-22, 25-12) in girl’s section.
In the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Manoj K Dhar was the Chief Guest who appreciated the efforts of Volleyball Association of J&K for organising a magnificent three-day championship in which over 250 players/officials took part and inspired the younger generation towards sports and drug de-addiction activities.
The Chief Guest thanked the organisers for starting the sports especially volleyball game after the outbreak of unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic in coordination with University of Jammu. He exhorted the youth to undertake sports/physical fitness activities for their overall development besides shunning social evils.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Vinay Chouhan, OSD to Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu graced the closing ceremony as special guests.
President of Volleyball Association J&K, Sidharth Daluja honoured the Chief Guest with memento and bouquet. He also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Volleyball Association of J&K to the university administration for extending all cooperation in making the championship a grand success.
The other officer bearers of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir including Kuldeep Magotra Chief Executive Officer, V.K Magotra Hony General Secretary, R.C Sharma Treasurer, Sajjad Hussain Joint Secretary, Ramesh Magotra, Subash Shastri, Manpreet Kour, Veena Kumari besides Vikas Karlopia, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar, Ravish Vaid from University of Jammu were also present during the function.
President, Jammu District Volleyball Association, Manmeet Singh and other office bearers worked hard for the success of championship.
The championship was held amid strict adherence of COVID-19 SoPs, thereby giving a clarion call to all participants to spread the awareness to fight against coronavirus in every nook and corner of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, Hony General Secretary of VAJK, V.K Magotra welcomed the dignitaries and disclosed that 12 teams in boys and four in girls sections drawn from various areas including border areas of Jammu District participated in the championship, intermingled, exchanged their views and fostered the spirits of sport and communal harmony besides giving assurance to spread the ideals of the championship in every nook and corner of J&K UT.
Today’s matches were officiated by Shubam Sharma, Amit Sharma, Bhawana Sharma, Ashiq Hussain, Imtiaz Ahmad and Naresh Kumar Sharma. Rajeev Dogra SAI, Naresh Kumar, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Volleyball Coaches were also present.
