Manjit appeals Centre to deal with Pak with iron hands

VIJAYPUR: Celebrating Accession Day of J and K with India, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh on Monday remembered Brig Rajinder Singh who gave his supreme sacrifice to save Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan’s aggression.
A function was organised at his native village (Rajinder Pura) where the people paid homage to Brig Rajinder Singh.
Manjit Singh, after giving floral tributes to the great soldier, the Congress leader said with the sacrifice of Rajinder Singh Jammu and Kashmir remained part of India and the Pakistan was defeated.
“He was a great soldier of Jammu and Kashmir State Forces who laid down his life in the war,” he remembered, while condemning Pak firing and Pak sponsored militancy in the State.
He said that even as Pakistan has been given befitting reply and defeated in three major battles yet it has not stopped provoking India.
The former minister said India should adopt a strict attitude and deal with iron hands with Pakistan in view of continuous unprovoked firing across the International Border and Line of Control (LoC).
Speaking before the people in village Nanga, he said that the people have been forced to flee abandoning their houses and fields.
“The Government should keep the suffering of the border residents in mind and provide five Marla plots to them in the safer areas,” Manjit Singh demanded.,
He further said that the students were the worst sufferers due to Pak firing and displacement and they should be given reservation.
Regarding land under the fence, he said, the Government should give compensation to the people whose land has come under the fence.
