LEH: In a move to further strengthen the party at grassroots in Leh after winning two LAHDC constituencies last year, National Conference (NC) District Unit Leh formed its Youth Wing and Women Wing on the occasion of the 111th Birth Anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah here.
Tsewang Dorjay Korpon was elected as President NC Youth Wing Leh while Tsewang Tundup and Arshad Hussian were made Vice Presidents. Others elected are Stanzin Jungness as General Secretary and Stanzin Gyurmet as Cashier. The Woman Wing was formed with Dechen Angmo as President, Kunzang Dolma General Secretary and Hajira Bano as Vice Presidents.
It is penitent to mention here that during the LAHDC election in 2015, NC had Turuk Constituency and prestigious Lower Leh Constituency.
Mehdi Ali was elected from Tutuk and P. Wangdan Shunu from Lower Leh.
While recalling Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah’s contribution to Ladakh, particularly during an era when Kushok Gyalsras Bakula Rinpochey worked with him, Councillor Turtuk Mehdi Ali termed Sher-e-Kashmir a statesman. District General Secretary Tsering Angchuk also spoke on the occasion.
Vice President Thinley Boto claimed that NC has been a secular party since its formation as Ladakhi leaders like Bakula Rinpoche, Sonam Norbu, Thiksay Rinpoche and Khanpo Rinpoche had worked with the party for the welfare of Ladakhi people.
Leaders also expressed gratitude to Lower Leh Councillor P. Wangdan Shunu for organising the event.
