DC Poonch starts Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball League

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yaseen Mohd Choudhary on Wednesday kick-started the Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball League, organized under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Degree College Ground, here.
A total of eight teams are participating and four league matches were played today.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch Yaseen Mohd Choudhary, who was the Chief Guest, appreciated the efforts of Mohd Tariq, Chairman Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club Poonch towards the youth of the society. He also asked the players to fallow the footsteps of Saqlain Tariq, a volleyball icon of the Poonch district, and show their talent at national and international levels.
Yougal Manhas SSP Poonch was the Guest of Honour. He also lauded the efforts of the organizers/association for promoting sports in general and volleyball in particular to shun the menace of drug abuse.
On the occasion, international spikers Kartik Sharma, Mahir Wani and volleyball promoter of Jammu and Kashmir Puran Singh were also honoured by organising committee.

League Matches: Pool A: Budgam beat Chandak Baduam by 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18); Gazi Anantnag beat Poonch Thander by 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16); Lambert beat Makdhoomi by 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 27-25); and Poonch Havali beat Spiker Qazigund by 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20)
Today’s matches were officiated with integrity and professionalism by technical panel comprising Intizar Husain, Shabir Ahmed, Shafqit Hussain Shah, Akhlaq Ahmed, Nareej Sharma, Waseem Choudhary and D.K Sharma.
