China cannot take India for granted

Dear Editor,
There is no debate over the fact that China has the potential to turn around our infrastructure like the way it has done for itself in the last 15 years or so.
With that in mind, China must have thought that it can afford to be assertive with India. That is why its army intruded into our territory at Chumar area in Ladakh while Chinese President Xi Jinping was here in India. And right after his return to China, he told his army to be prepared for a regional war.
This is a case of double standards. China must have thought that with Japan’s and Australia’s support to us, we might not need Beijing, and that India can do business with other Asian countries. But China is now dealing with a different India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
