JAMMU: 348th Prakash Utsav of tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh ji, who protected the nation from invaders, was celebrated here on Wednesday by thousands of Sikh devotees and people of other faiths with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion.
The main function was organised under the aegis of District Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee at Gurdwara Yadgar Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Chand Nagar here where large number of Sikh devotees and people of other communities participated. The cold wave failed to dampen the spirits of the devotees who reached Gurudwaras early in the morning to offer prayers.
The congregation at Gurdwara Yadgar Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was marked by the recitations of Gurubani Kirtans and Kathas (Holy Hymns) by the renowned and reputed Ragi Jathas from Shri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) and other places.
Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa and Bhai Satinder Vir Singh from Amritsar among other reputed Ragi Jathas recited Gurbani Keertans and delivered Gurbani Vichar and stressed on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony for which Guru Gobind Singh ji strived. They also threw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony.
After the culmination of the congregation, the traditional Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) was served to all the devotees.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu and MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta besides other prominent persons of the society were also present and offered prayers to Holy Guru Granth Sahib.
