All India Vice-Chancellors T-20: JU crushes defending champion HPU in opening tie

JAMMU: Jammu University (JU) cricket team started its campaign in the All India Vice-Chancellors T-20 Cricket Cup Tournament 2017 by 33-run victory against defending champion Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla at Punjabi University, Pataila on Saturday.
Batting first, University of Jammu set the target of 114 runs in 20 overs.
Deepak Kumar, the debutant was amongst top scorers who scored 41 runs. For HP University Shimla, Rajesh Thakur and Dharam Talwar shared two wickets each.
In reply, HP University Shimla was bundled out in just 16.1 overs after scoring only 80 runs. Pawan Singh was the wrecker-in-chief, who claimed three important wickets for JU while Dr. Dauood Iqbal Baba, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Balwant Singh picked two each.
Pawan Singh was adjudged Man of the Match for his tremendous balling performance.
Sham Lal Sharma, Manager and Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, Assistant Manager congratulated the team for this convincing win over defending champions.
