Airport Police intercepts woman carrying old denomination notes

JAMMU: The police on Wednesday intercepted a woman with old denomination currency notes at Jammu Airport here, said an official.
He said that during scanning of the luggage, a bag was detected with currency notes at the airport,” he added.
He said that the bag contained Rs 5.12 lakh in the denomination of old currency notes (Rs 500, Rs 1000), adding, “We have seized the amount and informed the Income Tax Department for further action.”
The officer said that as per the lady, Kamla Badyal, she was abroad when the demonetisation was announced and was carrying the money to deposit to the Reserve Bank of India, New Delhi. “It is upto Income Tax authorities to find out authenticity and logical words of the woman after the seizure of the cash,” he asserted.
