air indiaKolkata:- Air India Express, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, will reconnect Singapore to Kolkata from November 20 after a gap of six years.

According to a press release issued by Air India, a 180-seater Boeing 737-800 aircraft will leave the NSCB Airport for Singapore on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

This will fulfill a long-standing demand for the national carrier’s connectivity from Kolkata to South East Asia.

From October 30 Air India’s subsidiary Alliance Air will relaunch its Kolkata-Ranchi flight with a 5-day-a-week service, the release said.

A 48-seater ATR-42 aircraft will be operated on the route, it said.

To meet the growing rush on the Kolkata Agartala sector, Air India will also be operating an additional evening flight with enhanced capacity by deploying an Airbus-319 aircraft with 144 seats.

Besides this, Air India has enhanced capacity and frequency of flights on the Kolkata-Imphal Kolkata, Kolkata-Aizwal-Kolkata, Kolkata-Dibrugarh-Kolkata and Kolkata-Dimapur-Kolkata sectors.

Now Air India would operate direct flights with enhanced capacity between these destinations instead of combined flights, the release said.

Instead of the earlier combined sectors, Air India will now operate on the Kolkata-Aizwal-Kolkata sector point to point for five days a week and between Kolkata-Imphal-Kolkata for four days a week, it said.

Similarly, instead of the combined sectors operated earlier, Air India will now operate a direct flight on the Kolkata-Dibrugarh-Kolkata for five days a week and on the Kolkata-Dimapur-Kolkata six days a week.
