JAMMU: Akhil Bhartiya Sahitya Parishad (ABSP) in association with Rashtriya Kavi Sangam organised a programme on ‘Progressive Prospects of Literature in J and K’ and ‘Freedom of Speech and Patriotism’ at Press Club, here on Wednesday.
Dr. Om Goswami, a prominent Dogri writer and journalist, presided over the function, Dr. Krishan Lal, MLA Chhamb and a Prominent Dogri Poet was the Chief Guest while a prominent writer and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Dr. Rattan Lal Shant and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were the Guests of Honour.
Arvind Shah, National Executive Committee Member and Incharge J and K of ABSP drew attention of the guests to the number of organisations working in the field of Dogri/Hindi Literature and also in the field of Kashmiri/Hindi Literature.
“This new organisation will have members and office bearers from both the communities and it will be affiliated to national and international organisations to jointly enhance the literary resource pool in the State of Jammu and Kashmir for attention and impact in literary circles.” He said.
Appreciating the idea of organisation comprising of Dogri and Kashmiri scholars, Dr. Goswami said such organisation, will in addition of making the literary contributions richer will also help to learn from each other for positive progress of the society.
He applauded the concept and said sincere efforts will make it a great contribution for getting forth high quality literature from J and K.
Chief Guest said this will go a long way in serving the literature of J and K. MLC Ashok Amberdar, Dr. Rattan Lal Shant , Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Balram Saini and Neeru Sharma spoke on the subject.
Kewal Kumar Kewal, President Rashtriya Kavi Sangam J&K said that the objective of Sangam is to promote budding poets and nurture their talent.
A temporary working committee was formulated to start the process of new organisation and then a permanent body with due regulations will be formulated. The members of the temporary working committee are
The open house was followed by poetic recitation wherein poets in their recitations enthused the audience by patriotic fervour in different shades of poetry.
The poets who participated in tha Kavi Sammelan were Sushil Begana, Daya Ram Daya, O.P Shaker, Randhir Singh, Roshan Bral, Rajinder, Kewal Kumar, Bal Krishan, Shivam Lal and Prem Nath. Narinder Singh Chib Vice President Rashtriya Kavi Sangam presented vote of thanks and the programme was conducted by Yashpaul Nirmal.
