NABARD organises financial inclusion programme
KATHUA : A Financial Inclusion and Literacy Campaign was organised at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Keerian Gandyal in Kathua District by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to create awareness among school children about Financial Literacy. The main participants were Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Kathua, Vijay Padha, Director, SBI-RSETI, Kathua, R.K Kalsotra, LBO, Kathua, Bodhraj, Branch Manager, JKB, Keerian Gandyal, Rajesh Sharma, Principal, GHSS, Keerian Gandyal, lecturers, teachers and students of GHSS, Barwal, Sarpanchs of Keerian and Gandial Panchayats.
DDM, NABARD informed them about the new programme of ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’ launched by Prime Minister on 28th August 2014, where the account holders will be provided RUPAY debit card, overdraft facility and insurance cover. He informed about the range of financial services available from banks like savings, credit, insurance, pensions, payments, local and international money transfers etc. He asked all the students to open account with the banks and avail benefits from banks viz. education loans, small deposits, DRI, insurance etc. He explained to the students how to identify fake notes and how its use destabilises the economy. He also informed about the DBT scheme of the GoI, in which the benefits will be transferred to the account of the intended beneficiaries, thus hitting at the very root of corruption. A quiz completion was held on the occasion and prizes were distributed.
Vijay Padha, Director, SBI-RSETI, Kathua explained the importance of skill training. He informed that the training provided at SBI, R-SETI is free of cost, where boarding and lodging facility is also available.
Bodhraj, Branch Manager, J&K Bank, Keerian Gandyal interacted with the students and told them that you can Bank on Banks for their financial needs. He interacted with the students and explained different schemes of J&K Bank, Kathua. He told them that the bank is a friend in need who is willing to provide loan to the needy, which should be utilised for asset creation and cautioned them not to fall in debt trap of moneylenders.
R.K Kalsotra, LBO, Kathua informed the students about the initiatives undertaken under financial inclusion by banks.
Rajesh Sharma, Principal, GHSS, Keedian Gandial impressed upon the students to analyse the opportunities being opened through banks and avail its benefits.
