Chinese policy
Dear Editor,
China will never want to resolve the border dispute because it is in an advantageous position by occupying a large chunk of territory south of the Himalayas which, rightfully and according to natural justice, belongs to India. India-based French journalist Claude Arpi supported this view in an earlier article published in The Pioneer. China simply wants India to forget about the dispute by testing its patience owing to the latter’s perceived military weakness in a relative sense.
I heartily welcome Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj’s reference to the ‘One India’ policy which China should respect, just as India respects the ‘One China’ policy. Let us see if China reciprocates.
