Secretary RDD celebrates Heroes and Unity in Nimoo (Leh) in MMMD Event

LEH: A special “Meri Maati Mera Desh” event was held in Nimoo village of Leh district on Tuesday which witnessed a poignant gathering of dignitaries, officials, and local residents paying tribute to the valor of martyrs and fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie within the community. As a sequel to the prime event of the UT held under chairpersonship of LG Brig Dr B.D Mishra (Retd) at Leh few days back, this event was led by Amit Sharma, Commissioner Secretary of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department whose presence underscored the significance of the occasion, symbolizing the Government’s commitment towards honouring those who have selflessly served the nation. Other participants in event with prominent figures, including the Additional District Development Commissioner of Leh Sonam Nurboo, Lieutenant Colonel Rajput Battalion Nimoo Ashish Choubey alongwith Jawans, Chairperson of Nimoo’s BDC Tashi, DPO Leh Junaid Amin and several other officials of the Rural Development Department. The presence of school children and staff from Government High School Nimoo added a touch of youthful reverence to the proceedings. The most poignant moment of the event was the tribute paid by Amit Sharma to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. Their unwavering dedication and bravery were remembered with solemn respect. In a heartwarming gesture, the families of the martyrs were felicitated and tokens of appreciation were presented to them as a mark of gratitude for their sacrifices by Secretary RDD Amit Sharma. This gesture not only expressed the nation’s deep indebtedness but also highlighted the unbreakable bond between our bravehearts and the community they protected. As the event unfolded, the attendees, led by Secretary Amit Sharma, collectively took the Panch Pran Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of unity, diversity, and nation-building. The event culminated with the harmonious strains of the National Anthem, a reminder of the shared pride and identity that unites us all. Amidst the solemn proceedings, Amit Sharma, in his presidential address, praised the valour and spirit of local heroes of Nimoo, who were honoured in this programme and he termed them as role models for all in the Union Territory. It was followed by a cultural event organized by school children which lent a touch of vibrancy and creativity through performances that paid homage to the martyrs and their families, the young talents showcased their artistic expressions while honoring the sacrifices that make our freedom possible. This special “Meri Maati Mera Desh” event was celebrated here in Nimoo village as an occasion of profound significance, fostering unity, gratitude, and a shared sense of purpose among all attendees. It highlighted the indomitable spirit of our nation and the unwavering commitment to preserving the legacy of our heroes.
