JAMMU: Vigilance Organis-ation, Jammu, on Thursday caught one government servant red handed while accepting bribe.
According to a report, one Munshi Ram (Ration Dealer), son of Suram Chand, resident of Harogh Tehsil and District Ramban lodged a complaint that Nazir Ahmed, TSO Ramban was harassing him (complainant) as and when carriage charges were to be disbursed and demanding bribe from him.
The complainant mentioned that for the month of November 2017 approximately an amount Rs 1.50 lakh carriage charges has to be paid by the aforesaid TSO to the complainant, out of which Rs 10,000 has already been paid by the aforesaid TSO.
However the TSO Ramban was further demanding Rs 90,000 from the complainant. Finally the matter was settled for Rs 50,000 out of which Rs 10,000 was already paid by the complainant to the aforesaid TSO and the remaining amount of Rs 40,000 was to be paid to the aforesaid TSO.
However, before paying the bribe amount to the accused, the complainant approached Vigilance Organisation for taking legal action against the accused public servant under law.
Accordingly, a trap team was constituted by Vigilance Organisation under the command of Kamaljeet Singh, DySP.
Subsquently, Farooq Ahmed Storekeeper/Sale-sman posted in Food Store Ramban was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 40,000 as illegal gratification from the complainant, as the accused Nazir Ahmed TSO Ramban told the complainant on phone that he is not available and asked him to pay the bribe amount to him through his representative namely Farooq Ahmed.
After completing all necessary formalities the accused storekeeper was arrested for further legal action. Investigation of the case is going on.
Accordingly, FIR No 43/2017 was registered under Section 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) of J&K PC Act and Section 4-A PC Act (Amendment-2014) against accused Nazir Ahmed Wani, TSO Ramban.
