MAM, GCW Parade bag fencing titles

JAMMU: Government MAM College and Government College for Women (GCW) Parade emerged overall champions in men and women sections respectively in the maiden inter-college (men and women) fencing competition, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here on Thursday.
In today’s individual events, Mohammad Tariq and Pankaj Kumar Sharma of Government MAM College won gold in Foil and Epee respectively thus helped the institution improve points tally.
Earlier, in the Foil individual final, Mohd Tariq defeated Vir Sangram Singh of Post Graduate (PG) Departments while third place shared by Dushyant Magotra of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Surinder Singh of Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur.
Similarly, in men’s Epee individual final, Pankaj trounced Vir Sangram Singh of PG Departments. The third place in this event shared by Chahat Singh of GDC Reasi and Saujanya Chib of MAM College.
The individual finals of Foil and Epee were witnessed besides others by the Vice Chancellor of JU, Prof M.P.S Ishar. He was accompanied by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
Also present were Suman Lata, Balbir Singh Chib, Manvinderpal Singh, Anthony Matto, Tony Matto, Abdul, Ajay Khatrol, Imran, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia and Jai Bharat.
The competition was officiated by the technical penal comprising Shotu Lal Sharma (State Sports Council) Rachna Jamwal (State Sports Council), Ajit Singh, Rashid Ahmed (J and K Police) and Ujjawal Gupta (Department of Youth Services and Sports). P.D Singh of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU was Competition Incharge.
