ODF campaign: Brothers construct toilets for sisters as Raksha Bandhan gift

REASI: The ongoing Open Defecation Free (ODF) campaign got a new flip in this hilly district when bothers gifted toilets to their sisters on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The campaign was launched by District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar in block Katra in the presence of SDM Katra Neelam Khajura, ACD M.Y Malik, BDOs and other officials of the Rural Development Department.
The team of officers visited various places and encouraged the people for this innovative step.
The team also inspected the ongoing construction works of individual and community latrines at various places. The campaign was started from Hutt and Dadoora area of Katra and extended to other areas of the block. The locals also accompanied the officers.
The DDC, while interacting with the people, impressed upon them to extend full support in making block Katra and Panthal ODF and achieving the target in a time bound manner.
It was informed that that only 25 per cent works are left in Panthal and 35 percent in Block Katra and after its completion both the blocks would be declared ODF, while block Pouni is also close to the targets.
It was further informed that after Reasi, Panthal would be third and Katra fourth ODF block in the district. The campaign is also on in the eight other blocks of Bomag, Arnas, Thakrakote, Jij, Thuroo, Mahora, Chassana and Gulabgarh.
The DDC instructed the officers to intensify the campaign to motivate and encourage the people towards achieving the goal in a mission mode.
The administration has also decided to award and encourage the local people for outstanding work so far as the eradication of open defecation is concerned. It has also been decided to link the campaign with festivals and other routine celebrations to make it more progressive and fruitful.
