Hindu Jatha crossing Wagah border

0 136

Dear Editor,
In these days of heightened tension in relations, a Hindu ‘Jatha’ of devotees crossing the Attari-Wagah border to go to Pakistan, to pay obeisance at the Katas Raj Lord Shiva Temple to mark Mahashivratri, is a laudable tradition, and a surprise to the people in South India. It is believed that this temple complex was constructed at a place visited by the Pandavas. The ‘Jatha’ acquires importance, as the relationship between the two countries has hit a Nadir. Such unnoticed events will go a long way in rediscovering the common ancestry and fostering friendship. One hopes, Pakistan will go the extra mile to support the pilgrims visiting this and other temples there.
