RAMBAN: Police on Saturday arrested two persons and recovered 20 packets of poppy straw from their possession at Jawahar Tunnel.
According to the police officials, a truck (PB10 DA-1704) was stopped for checking at a Naka near Police Post Jawahar Tunnel and during the checking 20 packets (approx 15 kg ) of poppy straw was found in the spare tyre of the vehicle.
The accused identified as Ashok Massi son of Bansa Massi of Kalanaur district Gurdaspur Punjab (driver) and Harnam Massi son of Chiman Massi of village Uppal district Gurdaspur were arrested and a case vide FIR No. 18/2017 under section 8/25 NDPS has been registered in this regard at Police Station Banihal.
The arrest was made by Sub Inspector Gurpal Singh In-Charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel in close coordination with Station House Officer (SHO) Banihal Nazir Ahmed Dar under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Mohan Lal.
