4th Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Hockey Tournament Peaks XI, Banda Singh Bahadur, Power House Poonch, MBS Club win ties

JAMMU: Peaks XI, Banda Singh Bahadur Poonch, Power House Poonch and MBS Simbal Camp won their respective matches to advance into the next round of the ongoing fourth Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Peaks XI defeated GNN Hockey Club Nanak Nagar by two goals to one (2-1). Gurminder Singh scored both goals for Peaks XI in 28th and 50th minutes of the game while for GNN Hockey Club the only goal was scored by Jagjeet Singh in 60th minute.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Banda Singh Bahadur Poonch defeated Ajit Club Gole Gujral by five goals to nil (5-0). Rakshit (15th), Kaka (25th), Gurjot Singh (29th and 45th ) and Suresh (40th) minutes were the scorers.
In other scheduled match, Power House Poonch blanked Pathankot-XI by five goals to one (5-1). Tajinder Pal Singh (6th and 43rd) and Ishtiaq (16th, 22nd and 37th) minutes were the scorer while Amandeep Singh netted the lone goal for Pathankot-XI in the 45th minute. In the last match of the day, MBS Simbal Camp defeated Khalsa Club by four goals to one (4-1). First two goals for MBS Simbal Camp were scored by Karanjeet Singh in 15th and 26th minutes while third goal was scored by Shivam Sharm in 40th minute and Kala netted a ball in 55th minute. The lone goal for Khalsa Club was scored by Suriinder Singh in 36th minute. Vice-President DGPC Jammu, Harjinder Singh Raina, social activist, Balvinder Singh and SP Security, P.P Singh were the Chief Guests in today’s matches, who interacted with the teams.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Iqbal Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Manjeet Singh, Senapati, Mukesh Kumar and Satvir Singh (Tournament Director). Other prominent persons present were Rajinder Singh Raja, G.S Bakshi (General Secretary Hockey J and K), I.S Munna, Harvinder Singh, P.P Singh, Janak Singh (Organising Secretary), Harbans Singh Chib, Gurcharanjeet Singh, Jaswant Singh (Senior Vice-President Hockey J and K) and M.S Reen (Residential Secretary Hockey J and K).
FIXTURE: Zorawar Hockey Club shall take on Power House Poonch at 12:00 Noon; BSF Jammu to meet Hira Nagar at 1:50 PM; Peak XI to meet Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Poonch at 3:00 PM.
