Cong will continue to fight for rights of Ex-Servicemen: Bhalla

R S Pura: The soldiers are the pride of nation and they are committing suicides because of the behaviour of the current government, which is shameful and totally unacceptable. Earlier, the Modi government was against the farmers and now it has turned to be against the soldiers too. The Congress stands with the ex-soldiers and will continue to fight for their right of OROP, said former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while continuing AICC’s countrywide candlelight march in R S Pura which went through different Bazaars of the R S Pura constituency.
The activists during the candlelight march protested against the non-implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) in favour of ex-servicemen and also sought safe shelters for the border residents besides fair handling of the suicide case pertaining to 70-year-old retired jawan who ended his life over the delay in OROP pension.

Bhalla said that the act of preventing Rahul Gandhi from raising his voice on the issue of OROP and maltreatment of the former soldier’s family was undemocratic and a blatant attempt by the Narendra Modi to muzzle democratic values. He castigated the Government for its blatant lie on the issue of grant of OROP to the ex-servicemen. He demanded the ruling government and PM Narendra Modi to implement the rightful OROP and give the veterans their financial dues. PYC President Pranav Shagotra and former Minister Manjit Singh also spoke on the occasion.
