Delimitation proposal a planned conspiracy to change demography: Vakil
STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil accused Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti of trying to implement BJP agenda and termed the recent proposal of the State Government seeking delimitation of Assembly Constituencies part of planed conspiracy to change the religious democracy in Jammu and Kashmir the only Muslim majority State of the country.
Accusing Chief Minister of allowing the Central Government to train guns on her shoulders to hit the hapless Muslim majority community of the State, Vakil said keeping in view the huge public anger and resentment against the construction of Sainik Colonies and Pandit transit camps, implementation of controversial industrial policy and grant of citizenship rights the idea of processing a proposal for delimitation of Assembly constituencies is fraught with dangerous consequences.
Vakil said before taking the decision to set into motion a proposal for delimitation of assembly constituencies put on hold by the state assembly in the year 2002 till 2026 the Chief Minister is morally and politically bound to convene an all party meeting for a broader consensus over the issues. Urging the government to desist from processing such proposals of disintegrating tendencies, Vakil hoped Chief Minister would give up the policy of implementing BJP agenda and concentrating on restoring the atmosphere of peace and stability in unrest hit Kashmir.
