Pallanwala Club in finals of Jammu Volleyball

JAMMU: Pallanwala Club sailed into the final of the 28th Jammu District Volleyball (boys and girls) Championship got underway at MA Stadium, here on Friday.
In the semifinals, Pallanwala Club outplayed Stadium XI B in straight 2-0 (25-15, 25-21) sets.
Preliminary Round (boys): Volleyball Club Allah beat PG Departments of JU 2-1 (25-27, 25-22, 15-13); Stadium XI B got walkover against GGM Science College; Pinto Club Akhnoor defeated JSK Jourian 2-1 (25-13, 23-25, 15-09); Higher Secondary School BSF Jammu trounced Volleyball Club Allah 2-1 (28-26, 12-25, 18-16); Volleyball Club Pallanwala defeated Pinto Club Akhnoor 2-0 (25-16, 25-11).
The Results (girls): Pinto Club Akhnoor beat Girls High School Satwari 2-0 (25-13, 25-04); Army Children Club defeated Government High School Chowadi 2-0 (25-11, 25-11). The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Amarjit Singh, Akbar Ali, Naresh Kumar, Imtiaz Ahmed, Sher Singh and Aditya Sharma.
The finals in both the categories have been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with girls final at 2:00 PM and boys final at 4:00 PM.
Earlier, the event was declared open by the Chief Guest, Commandant IRP 10th Bn, Mohan Lal in a well attended function. In all, 12 teams in boys and four in girls section are taking part in this two-day meet being held under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J and K.
Chief Guest was welcomed by presenting a bouquet and memento by the President District Volleyball Association, Manmeet Singh Amn and Secretary, H.S Gill.
President Volleyball Association of J and K, Sidharth Daluja, who also graced the opening ceremony, hailed the participation of Jammu Border area youth in the championship despite disturbance.
Prominent persons among those present were Chief Executive Officer VAJK, Kuldeep Magotra, General Secretary, Vijay Magotra, Treasurer, Romesh Sharma, Master Puran Singh, Coaches Shottu Lal and Onkar Singh. During the championship Jammu District boys and girls volleyball teams will be selected for participation in the fourthcoming 28th J and K State Volleyball Champi-onship to be held on 2nd week of December.
