JAMMU: To show anger and in support of their demands of regularisation and payment of pending wages, daily wagers, need based and CP workers of Government Medical College (GMC) and its associated hospitals continued their strike, which entered 38 day on Saturday. A large number of daily wagers assembled at GMC Jammu and raised anti-government slogans. They alleged that concerned authority failed to consider their demands, which include payment of pending wages of last 30 months, regularisation of their services and creation of a new Wages Head. Addressing the protesting employees, Puneet Sharma, one of the protesters, said that due to non-payment of their wages for about last 30 months, their families are facing financial crisis. Due to the strike, the various services like water and power supply, operation of RO plant and AC plant were badly affected in Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu, which is totally dependent on the services of these need based mechanical workers. The protesting workers said their strike will continue until their demands are addressed and a written order issued in this connection.
