FOIJ seeks establishment of Food Park

JAMMU: Chairman, Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ), Lalit Mahajan along with General Secretary, BBIA, Ajay Langer and Secretary, BBIA Viraaj Malhotra attended a Conclave on Agri and Food Processors organised by Associate Chambers of Commerce and Industries of India (ASSOCHAM) at SKUAST-J.
During his key note address, Mahajan highlighted the scope of food processing industries in Jammu Province for which it is the need of the hour to establish mega food park in RS Pura, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Udhampur District to provide the opportunities for the setting up units by local youths under MSME sector on the basis of availability of raw materials available in these areas with the help of the NABARD and Ministry of MSME, Government of India. FOIJ demand for the setting up of food park in Jammu Region for which land already available in Ghati Industrial Area in Kathua District and efforts should be made by the industry department for the establishment of food park in RS Pura, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Udhampur District under Cluster Development Scheme of Government India which will provide great relief to the farmers of the state and open the job opportunities for the local youth of the State. “We request the Industries and Commerce Minister, Chander Parkash to issue necessary instructions to J and K SIDCO for establishment of food parks in the State,” FOIJ said.
