Eleven gamblers arrested with Rs 4,61,000 stake money

JAMMU: Eleven persons have been arrested on the charges of gambling and Rs 4,61,000 stake money was recovered from them here, police said on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted raid at Nissan Showroom Building, Chowadhi, Sanik Colony and arrested eleven gamblers, they said.
The arrested gamblers have been identified as Khadim Hussain, son of Ahmed Din, resident of Chowadi, Hanif Hussain, son of Bashir Mohd, resident of Nai Gujjar Basti Smailpur District Samba, Sunil Kumar, son of Jagdish Raj, resident of H.No-324, Jain Bazaar Jammu, Ajay Choudhary, son of Prem Choudhary, resident of H.No. 608 (Puli), Digiana, Salem Mohd, son of Rashid Ahmed, resident of Chowadi, Javed Choudhary, son of Rahim Din, resident of Chowadi, Gulam Qadir, son of Diwan Ali, resident of Chowadhi, Ankaj Sharma, son of Om Parkash Sharma, resident of Model Town Gangyal, Yogesh Kumar, son of Des Raj, resident of Hiranagar District Kathua, Faryad Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Chowadi and Anoop Singh, son of Balbir Singh, resident of Model Town Gangyal, police said, adding stake money amounting to Rs 4,61,000 was also recovered from their possession.
The accused have been booked under Gambling Act and investigation was underway, they added.
Whole operation was supervised by SDPO City East Chandan Kohli and SP City South Shahzad Ahmed Salaria.
