Ajote Club wins opening tie in Volleyball

POONCH: Ajote Club won the inaugural match of the District Level Volleyball Tournament, organised by 93 Infantry Brigade of the Army in collaboration with J and K State Sports Council under operation Sadbhavna, at Sports Stadium, here on Tuesday. To make it to the next round, Ajote Club trounced Pintu Club in straight sets of 25-23, 25-18. In another match, played in the girls section, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Poonch defeated Stadium XI. In all, 13 teams in boys section and five in girls section are taking part in this knock-out competition. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Neeeaj Sharma, Sourab Sharma, Ram Prakash, T.S Toofan and Rajinder Singh. Earlier, the event was declared open by Lt. Colonel, C.B Balwara, who was Chief Guest.
Retired SAI Hockey Coach, Sham Lal Sharma was Guest of Honour. Among others present were Krishan Lal Sharma (Secretary District Volleyball Association of Poonch), Prem Prakash, Bal Krishan and Pawan Kumar. This championship is being conducted under technical supervision of Incharge Sports Stadium, Poonch, Nirdosh Kumar.
FIXTURE: Manjeet Club shall take on Degree College Poonch and Chandak Club shall meet Kalai Club tomorrow.
