It bodes well that the rich haul of Rs 65,250 crore, from as many as 64,275 persons, under the Union Government’s Income Declaration Scheme, a brain child of Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley, has come to fruition.
This astronomical amount is the biggest of all extracted through some similar schemes like the Voluntary Disclosure of Income Scheme, launched by previous governments. Now, there’s a dawn of hope for thousands of homeless people who sleep on pavements, often without food, provided this whopping amount is used properly. This way, fear among the tax-payers has also been allayed.
