Fortis Hospital organises heart check-up camp

JAMMU: Fortis Hospital Ludhiana (FHL) in collaboration with Pahal Parivar organised heart check up camp at Aggarwal Sabha here on Sunday.
Dr V.K Sharma Director CTVS, Punjab Rattan and Dr Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, Senior Consultant Intervention Cardiology, FHL led the team of doctors and technicians.
On the occasion, Speaker J and K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the Chief Guest, who said that prevent the future impact of heart disease and stroke by adopting heart-healthy living from childhood throughout adulthood.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, President Aggarwal Sabha Jammu, Dewan Chand Bansal and senior BJP leader Munish Sharma were also present.
More than 110 patients of cardiac ailments were benefited in the camp with free investigations like ECG, blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring. Doctors interaction with patients were also provided.
According to Dr Sandhu for the right diet, one should eat less fat, less sodium, fewer calories etc. “With Aerobic exercises-like swimming, cycling and brisk walking-through increased blood levels at least 80 per cent of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided if the main risk factors like tobacco, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity are controlled. One needs for a healthy heart are balanced diet, regular exercise, mental relaxation and avoiding smoking,” he said.
Dr V.K Sharma Director CTVS stressed on the need for lifestyle modifications for better health and a healthy heart.
Deepak Aggarwal Chairman Pahal said regular camps at remote areas, is very beneficial especially for poor patients who cannot afford treatment in hospitals.
