RS PURA: Rubal of Ludhiana secured the title bout in the Rustam-e-Indian Style Dangal 2016 which was organised by R.S Pura Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with and Dusshera Committee, here on Wednesday.
In the title bout, Rubal defeated Kala of Delhi to win a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with silver Gurj and Patta. Runners-up, Kala was presented with Rs 50,000.
The prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest, MLA R.S Pura, Dr. Gagan Bhagat in presence of the dignitaries.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Karan Bhagat and was sponsored by various social, religious, Biradari organizations.
It was conducted in the memory of Uri martyrs who sacrificed their life for the motherland. Tributes were also paid to them before the start of Dangal.
The wrestlers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J and K, and Rajasthan participated in the Dangal.
Bhupinder of Ajnala Punjab won second bout while third bout was won by Kaka of R.S Pura and fourth winner was Sunil of Kirtpur Punjab.
Meanwhile, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh Chib, the ace boxer who had won bronze medal in 2016 Macau Games, silver in National Games, was also honoured by R.S Pura Indian Style Wrestling Association and Dusshera Committee by giving him a cash prize of Rs 21,000, silver Gurj and Patta in the presence of Brigadier T.S Rana and other senior army and police officers.
The prominent persons present were Tehsildaar R.S Pura, SP(HQ) Ramesh Kotwal, E.O R.S Pura Jodhraj Bhagat, SDPO R.S Pura Surinder Choudhary, BDO R.S Pura, ZEO Miran Sahib and R.S Pura, Hemraj Khajuria, Balkar Singh Pehalwan, the committee members Jawahar Singh, Manmohan Choudhary, Inder Sudan, Sham Mehra, Jang Singh, Tinku Singh, Raju Singh and Balakram.
