JAMMU: Government Women Industrial Training Institute Akhnoor Road held a plantation drive here at its premises.
Chief Guest on the occasion, Superintendent of the Institute Madan Singh Manhas along with faculty members including Sushila Devi Supervisor, Avnil Mahajan, Ram Singh, Vaishno Devi, Rani Devi and students participated in the drive with zeal and zest. Around fifty Ashoka tree saplings were planted during the drive. Addressing the gathering, Manhas discussed the significance of plants in maintaining the ecological balance and sustainable development.
He said plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
Staff members Anuradha, Ritu Mahajan and Surinder Kour besides trainees under various trades also planted the saplings. Sushila Devi also spoke on the importance of plants and their impact on the people of the city.
