Hindi Deptt of JU holds seminar on Nari-Vimarsh

JAMMU: The Department of Hindi, University of Jammu, on Monday starting a series of seminars on the topic Nari-Vimarsh.
The first programme of the series held today in which Mukesh Kumari, research scholar of the department, maintained that there are several questions and viewpoints raised by different scholars of west and east.
Shallu Jamoria and Bhavna presented the condition of women in historical perspective.
“In Vedic era the condition of women was not bad. She began to lose their rights after Vedic era. In middle and present ages there seems no improvement in their conditions though several women liberation agitations projected feminism and help raise the consciousness,” they mentioned.
Ruchika and Ekta, research scholars of the department, presented present conditions of the women depicted in the novels of Mamta Kalia and Sanjeev in the context of struggle.
Prof. Pushpa Devi from Kurukshetra, who presided over the programme, gave citations from Indian families regarding the consciousness of women and counted reasons of her backwardness.
Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma said that how condition of women can be improved in Indian society.
Prof. Parvinder Kour, Head of the Department, presented vote of thanks while Vandana Sharma compered the programme.
