KATRA: Police on Saturday busted an interstate gang of thieves by arresting five burglars at Katra.
According to a report, on receipt of an information regarding the movement of thieves in Katra and Bhawan areas, a joint party of Police Station Bhawan and Katra detained five persons who are not locals were involved in series of theft cases at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track.
All these thieves use to operate in small groups on the tracks and use to pick clothes and other belongings. They have been identified as G.L Waris son of Zaffar Babs Waris resident of Manlawa UP, Saanu son of Usman resident of Kandel Ganj Kanpur UP, Mohd Sartaz son of Raju resident of Kangi Mohal Kanpur UP, Gajinder Rai son of Bangdeshwari resident of Bhimpur Bihar and Raj Kumar son of Arun Singh resident of Sewan Bihar. During search, eight mobile phones and coins of Mata Vaishno Devi recovered from their possession. Besides this, some other associates have also been identified and they had made their hideouts at Seemapuri Delhi. They usually come via train from Delhi and after making theft return back to Delhi. Further inquiry into the matter is going on. Their involvement in other theft cases of Katra and Bhawan cannot be ruled out.
